Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 3 cups peeled and chopped apples
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • For the Glaze:
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix oil, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix well.
  5. Fold in chopped apples and nuts until evenly distributed.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. For the glaze, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  9. Add brown sugar and milk, bring to a gentle boil for 2–3 minutes while stirring.
  10. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  11. Pour warm glaze evenly over the hot cake and allow it to soak in before serving.

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a balanced flavor.
  • Do not overmix the batter to keep the cake tender.
  • Pour glaze over cake while both are warm for best absorption.
  • Store covered at room temperature for up to 3 days.
